Beschreibung

COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) is a powerful tool for internationalisation in higher education. It enables transdisciplinary virtual exchanges between two or more educational institutions, beyond geographical boundaries. The project «Decolonizing Language Education - A Transcontinental COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) between Brazil, South Africa and Switzerland» explores sustainability-oriented language education by focusing on language, identity and belonging. In the project we aim to decolonize higher education, advance multilingualism and promote transknowledging as a core capability of an individuum to value and share different mindsets (Heugh, 2025, p. 20). Further, the project will contribute to a broader understanding of how language education can support social justice, sustainability, and linguistic and global citizenship across diverse contexts. This collaboration reflects the value of equitable partnerships between institutions in the Global Souths and Global North in co-creating transformative educational practices and knowledge production.
