Beschreibung

The academic exchange project draws on an ongoing Swiss-Brazilian COIL collaboration on Linguistic and Global Citizenship. The present proposal aims at deepening and expanding knowledge regarding affective decolonial language education, translanguaging, sustainability, planetary justice and social transformation. Its rationale sits on critically responding to an existing gap in both applied linguistics and education fields: the lack of transnational, transdisciplinary, integrative and co-created approaches connecting language education, decoloniality, and sustainability, which are potentially able to challenge dominant narratives and promote social change while responding to global challenges posed today. By means of a qualitative, collaborative, and cyclical methodological approach, the main objectives involve deepening and expanding understandings regarding sustainability to develop an

integrative framework aimed at a socially engaged and sustainable language education today. To do so, the project combines critical literature analysis, transnational knowledge co-production, and cooperative development of educational premises and resources. Besides active academic participation in events, workshops and co-authored and co-editied materials,

the main expected outcomes encompass both innovative, pluralist and practice-based theoretical contributions to the research field and practical outputs such as the creation of a multilingual pedagogical booklet. Institutionally, the project can potentially strengthen

international research collaboration and foster the planning of future cooperation. In turn, the project main social impact lies in enhancing inclusive and sustainable educational practices, challenging linguistic and epistemic inequalities, and contributing to more significantly transformative, socially responsible and planetarily just education practices and policies.
