Educational Visions as Cultural Processes: Student Exchange as a Form of Sustainable Internationalization

Conceptualizing internationalization as a relational process needs new thinking of culture as a process instead of culture as something to explore and experience. Adaptation is therefore replaced by non-representational approaches.

Beschreibung

For a long time, intercultural training for participants of mobility programs in Higher Education has been focusing on theories, tools and instruments that are based on a static, predictable and generalising view on the term culture. There is a need for a conceptual shift especially in teacher education from an adaptation approach and the use of generalised culturalistic frameworks to internationalized learning that focuses on the contextual variability within groups of people. The present research project proposes explanatory material and a methodological approach that takes into account new concepts and theories of culture that can be used for internationalized learning in teacher education.
